Whering, the UK-based digital wardrobe startup, has raised $7 million in a seed funding round co-led by eBay Ventures and the Google AI Futures Fund. The raise coincides with a major milestone: 10 million users worldwide.

What Whering Does

Founded in 2021 by Bianca Rangecroft, Whering lets users digitize their wardrobes, plan outfits, prepare for travel, and share styling ideas. The core premise is straightforward — help people make smarter use of what they already own.

The platform sits at the intersection of personal styling and sustainable consumption, positioning itself as a tool for more intentional, circular fashion habits.

AI Features on the Roadmap

As part of its participation in the Google AI Futures Fund, Whering plans to roll out a suite of AI-powered capabilities:

  • Personalized outfit recommendations based on weather, mood, and occasion
  • Image enhancement tools
  • Gallery scanning to identify clothing items from existing photos
  • Virtual try-on functionality

These features represent a significant expansion of the platform's current offering and are central to how Whering intends to deploy the new capital.

Building a Circular Fashion Ecosystem

Beyond styling, Whering has its sights set on resale integration — stitching together wardrobe management, outfit planning, and secondhand selling into a single platform. The goal is to extend the lifespan of clothing and reduce fashion waste through a more connected user experience.

"We have access to such a vast amount of data that hasn't existed before – not just what people buy, but what people actually wear, what they wear it with and how it makes them feel. For us, what's next is helping people not just when they get dressed in the morning, but every time they interact with clothes, whether that's buying, selling or styling." — Bianca Rangecroft, Founder & CEO, Whering

Why the Backing Matters

The involvement of eBay Ventures is particularly telling — eBay has a vested interest in secondhand markets and resale infrastructure. Paired with Google's AI investment arm, Whering has both the technical and commercial muscle to accelerate its platform ambitions.

With 10 million users already on board, the company is scaling from a useful lifestyle app into a broader infrastructure play for how people buy, wear, and sell clothes.
