Lucida AI has closed a $7 million seed round after adding a $1.6 million extension to its previously announced $5.4 million initial close. The round was led by UK-based Velocity Capital, with participation from Next Tier Ventures, Look AI Ventures, Bogazici Ventures, Yapı Kredi Frwrd Ventures, and Ünlü & Co.

What Lucida AI Does

Founded by Mustafa Girgin and M. Sait Demirci, Lucida AI is a speech-native AI platform built for real-time spoken communication. Rather than relying on text prompts or scripted drills, it uses a proprietary Speech Language Model (SLM) that adapts dynamically to each user's proficiency level.

The platform delivers instant feedback on:

  • Fluency and pronunciation
  • Clarity and communication style
  • Real-world scenarios — from casual conversations to business meetings, presentations, and client calls

Traction and Scale

In just 15 months since launch, Lucida AI reports:

  • 3 million+ users across Europe, the US, and emerging markets
  • 2.2 billion minutes of spoken AI interactions generated

The platform is available as a mobile app for individual users and supports enterprise deployments with on-premises hosting and end-to-end encryption.

"AI is becoming a global race, and meaningful innovation is no longer tied to a single geography. Our focus is clear: building a scalable, speech-native AI platform that powers global communication."Mustafa Girgin & M. Sait Demirci, Co-founders, Lucida AI

What's Next

The fresh capital will fund four key priorities:

  1. Expansion into new languages and markets
  2. Further development of its speech-to-speech AI infrastructure
  3. Growth of its enterprise offering
  4. Continued product development

With spoken AI interaction emerging as a distinct category from text-based LLMs, Lucida AI is positioning its SLM architecture as the infrastructure layer for global voice-first communication.
